Scarface sells a million

Scarface: The World is Yours, the game which asks what would have happened if Tony Montana survived the events that ended the movie, has sold over a million copies since its launch.

During October the game was number one best selling game in America, best selling console game in America, best selling PS2 game in America, best selling Xbox game in America and the PSP title Scarface: Money, Power, Respect was the top of the PSP sales for the month according to NPD Group figures.

"We are very appreciative of the outstanding retail and gaming community support in North America, Europe and Australia," said Pascal Brochier, president, global retail, Vivendi Games. "This support pushed the game to #1 in North America while exceeding our expectations in Europe and beyond."

PSP sales up by 280 per cent, says SCEA

As the shortage of PlayStation 3 units continues in the US and Canada sales of PS2 and PlayStation Portable are booming, according to Sony Computer Entertainment America.

In a statement, communications boss David Karraker said the top five retailers in North America were reporting a week-by-week rise in PS2 hardware sales of more than 115 per cent over the Thanksgiving period. Sales of PSP units, meanwhile, were up by 280 per cent.

Sales of first-party software are also up, according to SCEA. PS2 game sales rose by 120.6 per cent, with PSP software sales increasing by almost 168 per cent.

Sony has yet to publish figures for exactly how many PlayStation 3 units have been sold in North America since the console launched there on November 17.

However, Karraker did confirm that all PS3s shipped to the US last week have been sold, adding, "More are already on their way for this week.

"Feedback from our retail partners is that demand is still incredibly high and that PS3s put on store shelves were quickly snapped up by holiday shoppers," he went on.

"We will continue to utilise airfreight delivery for the PlayStation 3 to assure a steady stream of systems for North American consumers through the end of the year."

As previously announced, Sony plans to ship one million PS3 units by the end of the year.

Here are some of the fixes included in the release.. Some other game's may have been fixed that arent listed.

* Ocarina of Time - I dont plan to start from the start of OOT, Will do the temples which may help with everything. Marketplace and intro are now fixed
* Road Rash - Still trying to figure out why some of the guys only have wheels for a bike but its fun!
* Mortal Kombat 4 - Menu text, characters, background i think is related to mirroring. Powers etc fixed.
* Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six - Added in-game stuff however doesn't work properly yet.
* Super Smash Bros - Still working out how to fix this game up good, getting somewhere though
* S.C.A.R.S. - Added Most in-game stuff still not 100%
* Sin and Punishment - Works quite well on level 1, never tried level 2, guessing more stuff to implement
* Quest 64 - Various Fixes (Hasnt been checked yet)
* San Fransisco Rush - Isn't quite normal but getting there

Nokia to take on the PSP and Nintendo DS

Nokia says that games consumers will be forced to make a choice between its mobiles and with the likes of Sony PSP and Nintendo’s DS.Established publishers and developers have already signed up to produce content for Nokia's Nseries phones and S60 software, which are due for release early next year.

Nokia’s head of games for UK and Ireland Martin O’Driscoll says that that "games consumers will be forced to make a choice between its mobiles, Sony’s PSP and Nintendo’s DS."

He added:“The consumer will have to make a decision: does he wants a standalone gaming device with a limited browsing capability or a phone with an MP3 player,a camera and a bloody good games platform? I think consumers will be prepared to spend £300 on a phone that offers all those different things rather than £100 to £150 for a standalone games machine."
