Newsbits 11/30: Wild Arms XF, new ad agency, ‘07 VGAs, High Stakes goes Remote, etc.
November 30, 2007 on 12:50 pm | In Uncategorized | Comments OffPublisher XSEED is bringing Wild Arms XF to the PSP, and it's going to be an exclusive title for the handheld. Sony has found a new ad agency (thank the gods), a Los Angeles based company by the name of Deutsch, with a $150 million ad account. Let's see some sweet ads! The one and only Samuel L. Jackson will be hosting the 2007 Video Game Awards. They will be airing on Spike TV December 9th, 9:00 ET. We'll definitely report any wins on Sony's side, but this wasn't exactly a huge year for them. A patch for the High Stakes poker game allows you to utilize Remote Play and run the game on your PSP whenever you're in a hotspot, or WiFi-accessible area.
Firmware 3.73 released, but why?
November 29, 2007 on 4:50 pm | In Uncategorized | Comments OffYou can now update your PSP to firmware 3.73 via the Network Update. Here's the funny thing, there's no sort of changelog, or mention of new features/improvements. A few good guesses might be "Updated Playstation Titles" or "Improved Security" or perhaps stability for Remote Play. Either way, Sony hasn't mentioned any reason worth updating. If you're in the homebrew scene, you're better off staying there. Otherwise, feel free to update to 3.73, but don't expect any changes at all. For those without WiFi access, keep your eye for an update on the System Software Update page. We'll report back when Sony starts spilling details. Update: According to Joystiq, a Sony representative has stepped up and addressed the confusion. The only change in 3.73 is as follows: "operation of the UMD drive has been improved to address cases in which the UMD drive occasionally suspends and fails to reload data." And there you have it, a minor update, but a nice patch to nonetheless.
